Packing & Shipping
Bag Packing for Small Orders: Folded, Stuffed, Dust Bag or Gift Box?
Choose packing for the bag’s structure and your selling format, then compare the measured parcel. Folding, stuffing, dust bags and gift boxes solve different problems. None is a universal low-cost option, and packaging changes should be approved before export.

Calculation and purchase decision
Compare approved protection first, then size. Suppose 20 bags fit in a 60×40×40 cm carton with gift boxes, or a 60×40×30 cm carton with stuffing and dust bags. At an assumed divisor of 5000, the dimensional basis falls from 19.2 to 14.4 kg, a 25% reduction. That is not a 25% freight saving: actual weight, billing rounding and surcharges may control the invoice. Remove gift boxes only if your selling format permits it.
DHL’s volumetric-weight guide supports the cm-based method and a typical Express divisor of 5000, while requiring confirmation of the actual service divisor. The carton sizes above are editorial assumptions. The calculation does not establish a CBAG rate, a promised route or a freight saving.
Match the method to the damage risk
Start with what must survive: body shape, surface finish, corners, handles, straps and hardware. A soft tote may tolerate a fold that a structured top-handle bag does not. Ask the seller and desk to check suitability for the selected item, and record whether creasing or flattening is acceptable.
A dust bag can help separate surfaces, but it is not a replacement for an outer shipping carton and appropriate protection. A gift box may suit retail presentation while increasing volume or needing its own protection. Treat display packaging and transport protection as separate choices.

| Option | Purpose | Check before approval |
|---|---|---|
| Folded | Reduce space for a suitable soft bag | Allowed fold points and crease tolerance |
| Stuffed or supported | Help retain body shape | Support material, pressure and final dimensions |
| Dust bag or separator | Separate surfaces and accessories | Material suitability and hardware contact |
| Gift box | Retail presentation | Whether needed for every unit and its outer protection |
| Export carton | Contain and protect the shipment | Carton layout, void fill, packed size and weight |
Approve changes rather than asking for the smallest box
State what can be removed, retained or replaced: seller cartons, tissue, retail boxes, tags and protective wraps. Ask before removing labels or accessories that your shop needs. Separate hardware from surfaces where contact could mark the bag, and keep straps from being sharply compressed.
Request packing evidence appropriate to the order: an open-carton view, examples of item protection and the final carton count and measurements. These are requirements to agree with the desk, not a claim that every request includes the same inspection service.
Compare complete packed options
Ask for the cost and size implications of the protection options you would actually accept. The smallest parcel may create an unacceptable presentation or damage risk. Unknown freight or repacking fees remain pending until confirmed; do not assume removing a gift box guarantees a saving.
For multi-seller orders, check whether different bag structures can share the carton safely. Review QC before packing conceals the relevant details, then confirm the final route quotation and release instruction.

Questions before purchase
Can every bag be folded?
No. Confirm the selected item’s structure, finish and acceptable crease risk first.
Is a dust bag enough for shipping?
It does not replace an appropriate outer carton and transport protection.
Will removing boxes always reduce the final cost?
No. Compare the actual packed dimensions, weight, handling and route quote.
